Nutritious breakfast on the go

We've all heard the saying breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Sometimes though, getting a proper nutritious breakfast in can be a challenge between getting lunches made and getting everyone dressed and out the door on time. And let's not forget those picky eaters! 
So what does one do if they did not plan ahead? 
I found that some days the answer lies in a quick, simple protein shake. The trick will be finding a brand that works for you and your family. We found that a vanilla vegan based protein powder is the most versatile and loved in our home. It is easily digested and the body is able to absorb 100% of the vitamins and minerals. This helps to provide an extra dose of nutrients when our diet doesn't deliver what we need. My picky eater of a son prefers the vanilla protein plain mixed with regular cows milk whereas my toddler does not mind any combination and loves all protein shakes in general. She is much more adventurous and will drink them plain with water, almond milk or regular cows milk and has been known to love the chocolate flavour as well (see picture below of her with her "protein goatee" lol). You can also mask the protein powder flavours if you are not a fan by adding your favourite fruits, leafy greens, yogurt, matcha green tea, etc. You can get as creative as your heart desires! Either way, the point is you are getting a proper nutritious meal into you each morning to start your day off on a good note.
